This session will introduce non-sleep specialists to sleep health and how it influences health and wellness. We will discuss factors that promote sleep disturbances and how best to manage the common sleep disturbances. Attendees with tools for not only identifying the common sleep disturbances, but evidence-based practices for managing them.

Dr. Brandy M. Roane is a clinical scientist by training with a specialization in sleep and circadian rhythms. Dr. Roane received her PhD in Clinical Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine from the University of North Texas following completion of her APA-accredited behavioral pediatrics psychology internship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Munroe-Meyer Institute. She completed her post-doctoral training, focused on sleep and circadian rhythms, at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Currently, Dr. Roane holds an appointment of Associate Professor of Pharmacology and Neuroscience in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Associate Professor of Medical Education in the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. In addition to directing the Sleep Research Lab, she is actively involved in graduate biomedical sciences, ungraduated medical education, faculty development, and clinical services. Her major teaching roles include Transferrable Skills curriculum to all GSBS students both for the in-person and online courses and biomedical ethics. Within TCOM, my teaching includes facilitator in MEDE 7620 Clinical Integration and faculty for Sleep Disorders and Treatment in MEDE 7522 Fundamentals of Behavioral Science.
LM2021 OnDemand sessions are hosted online via the ACLM Learning Management System and each session consists of a title, description, learning objectives, speaker information, video recording, presentation slides in PDF format, an assessment and survey evaluation.
